Working Mom Wednesday

Linking to Work, Wife,Mom...Life! for Working Mommy Wednesday. For this week the discussion is: What are you thankful for?

Today I am most thankful for Water. The following quotes taken from http://water.org/
  • Nearly one billion lack access to safe water.
  • In remote areas of Africa women travel miles each day to collect water for their families. It's dangerous and debilitating.
  • Haiti cholera outbreak highlights clean water crisis, more than 1,000 have died
I’m thankful I was able to use water for the following things this week:

  • I drank 48oz of water per day
  • I used water to take a shower every day
  • I used water to make tea and coffee
  • I used water to give my children bathes
  • I used water to flush the toilet several times a day
  • My husband used water to cook a very delicious steam pot
  • I used water to boost
  • I gave my daughter water to drink
  • I used water to brush my teeth
  • I used water countless times to wash my hands after using the toilet, changing a diaper, cooking dinner, etc.
  • I washed produce
  • I washed dishes
  • I gave water to my pets
  • My fish swim in clean water
  • I watered plants
  • I've cleaned counters and floors
How did my family and I get blessed with so much available clean water? Why don’t I thank God every day for this gift? I really want to be more thankful for such an amazing and life sustaining gift.

What a great reminder. The amount of CLEAN water we use on a daily basis is really staggering when you think about the rest of the world. As a big water drinker, I am VERY thankful for water.

Happy Thanksgiving :)

That's such an important reminder! We are so lucky to be able to take water for granted...and we need to remember not to.

So seldom do I think about what a precious resource water is - thanks for the reminder!

I don't know if you watched Last Comic Standing, but my fave "joke" this season was from one of the contestants. He said, "you know America is a cool country now. You know you've got a big deal country when you have water parks. Half of Africans don't have clean water to drink, and we're playing in it."

I love water, and this is a good reminder!

Beautiful reminder. The cholera epidemic brewing in Haiti is particularly disturbing to me because the "experts" knew this could happen, and yet we couldn't prevent it.

It's always there and rarely do we think --- AND THANK -- about having it.

Great post!

Great post! I live in Scotland, where it rains most weeks of the year. Us Scots do not always appreciate the abundance of water we have - in fact we regularly curse it! Your post is so true though - we should stop and be thankful for having access to clean water to drink, cook, wash, etc...
