Every February, our family bundles up for the Chambersburg Ice Festival, and no trip is complete without a stop at the Falafel Shack. Part of the adventure is never knowing what the weather will bring. One year we bundled up in wool sweaters and layers for -10 degrees but the wind still cut right through us. The kids were so miserable they begged for balaclavas but the very next year, with temps in the 50s, they were not needed.
Once we've braved the elements, we warm up at the Falafel Shack. The food is always a hit, even with my pickiest eaters, and the colorful artwork on the walls inspire us every time.
We have a tradition of drawing together while we wait for food to arrive. Looking back at these drawings each year reminds me of why this little tradition means so much to us.
