Talk Like A Pirate Day 2025
This quirky holiday has become such a favorite in our household that I made sure to schedule my next trip after it. Even our oldest postponed plans with friends to stay home and celebrate with us, which, coming from a teenager, might be the highest compliment a family can receive.
Our regal cat Aisha claimed center stage by lounging in the middle of our treasure map, clearly declaring herself the prize. Honestly, she wasn’t wrong.
Mike led a mini workshop for two of the girls, teaching them how to age paper and singe the edges to create authentic-looking pirate maps. They even used piles of rice to give the maps a more organic shape. The results were impressively pirate-worthy.
While they crafted, I took the kids out for a few errands. Meanwhile, Mike snuck around the house and yard, “burying” treasure and sketching out a map for the kids to follow. When we returned, the hunt was on.
The kids teamed up to solve clues and track down the hidden treasure chest. Watching them work together, laugh, and cheer when they finally found it was the highlight of the day. It was a simple celebration, but one filled with creativity, teamwork, and a whole lot of joy.
