Random Tuesday ~ Texas

Random Tuesday finds the Occasional Boredom clan in Texas for two weeks!  This post is all about the random observations experienced on the six hour drive from Dallas to Odessa.

The Confederate Air Force Museum of Odessa changed the C word to Commemorative.

Husband has been raving about , we finally pass one and the sign says "have a delicious ham and cheese sandwich", wait, WHAT???  Where's the BEEF?

And finally, we stopped at the Gas and Grub to see what Violette was screaming about and while buying water at the register we noticed they sell ammunition at the counter.  It's funny to us because it's this little town with nothing else open at 7pm on a Saturday night so this is the all purpose store.  How rare and interesting to find a place like this!

Gas N Grub...now, if I didn't know better then this could be a business located in my home state (hillbilly capital of America) West Virginia. Not only can you tank up your car and stomach, but you can buy buck shot! Thanks for visiting today, my friend!

Yeah! Except your photo would have big mountains in the background! Didn't know you were from WV, beautiful state!! I grew up in Hagerstown, MD so we were always a few minutes away from WV and my dad's family is from there. Love that state!!

Now see we have places like that here in Wyoming--small towns where nothing else is open but the local convenience store. They are called things like Kum & Go, Quick and Easy, and yes, we do make jokes about the names.

NO WAY VANDY!!! Kum & Go? I have to see a photo of this! I'm inspired to do a road trip some day just to photograph convenience stores in small towns.

If I had my own convenience store, it would be "Gum and Go" :)

Convenience stores like that are always so interesting to visit - we ran across some interesting ones in our cross-country trip this summer - yours takes the cake, though! ;)

It is fascinating! I recall in the Everglades there are convenience stores that sell Alligator head skulls in multiple different sizes and teeth! Think I'm going to start a project to photograph convenience stores on my road trips!!

Yep, it took over from the 7 eleven we had. My inner twelve year old giggles every time I drive past it.

Yeah, we have a gas station that sells live bait and hot dogs in the same general area here in South Carolina. Needless to say, I don't go inside.

I have to agree with you on that! Live bait and hotdogs - kinda the same thing in my book!!
