Sometimes coming home is the hardest part

Due to a series of unscheduled events, I had to return to Vietnam earlier this week. The return trip put me back in Hong Kong mid-day on a Friday with nothing really to do until my flight back to the US on Saturday morning. I tried to convince American Airlines to let me return on an earlier flight. Nothing was available, they tell me I have to follow my scheduled flight path.

But something happened in Texas and I need to get back, want to get back, would really really like to get back ASAP please.

My husband's grandfather from his dad side passed away on Thursday (Friday morning Asia time), I want to be home with my husband.

If my flight goes as planned tomorrow I can probably make it in time for the funeral. But my return flight goes through Japan and there was an 8.9 earthquake this afternoon, followed by a tsunami. I realize there are bigger problems in the world then my need to get home and I don't want to make this a big deal but right now I feel like just sitting in the airport to wait for my flight. I want to come home so badly. Be with my babies, support my husband.

I really hope Tokyo is accepting flights tomorrow.

I immediately thought of you this morning when I heard about the earthquake this morning. I didn't know how it would all affect you. Praying you get home quickly and safely!!!

Thanks everyone, I'll keep you posted. My flight appears to be on time for now, hopefully leaving in 3 hours.

By now you are hopefully on a flight on your way home. My prayers are with you for a safe flight and with your family in Texas.
